Spirit Bear appreciated hearing how Thickwood Heights students created their own Heart Garden to honour the survivors of the residential school system and the children that did not come home. The students and staff also devoted their time to supporting Elders by making them food, creating cards, painting stones, and raising money to support their needs. The school also honoured Shannen Koostachin by sharing her story and how safe and comfy schools are important for all First Nations children. Every Child Matters and you and your students sure have made this a clear and compassionate core belief in your collaborative work this school year, three cheers for you!
