Sexualized behaviors in cohorts of children in the child welfare system

In this study, the records of 789 children and adolescents in the child welfare system were studied to examine patterns of normative sexualized behaviours (NSB) and problematic sexualized behaviours (PSB) among boys and girls and across three age cohorts. The researchers presented an analysis of each sexualized behaviour in terms of incidence and progression over time in relation to other sexualized behaviours. The incidence rates for problematic sexualized behaviours in general are, regardless of gender, elevated compared to children not in care.
