Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples

The Royal Commssion on Aboriginal Peoples (RCAP) was established by Order in Council on August 26, 1991 and charged with the mandate to "investigate the evolution of the relationship among aboriginal peoples (Indian, Inuit and Métis), the Canadian government, and Canadian society as a whole." The Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples was submitted in October 1996 and concerns government policy with respect to the original historical nations in Canada.
