Partners in Care: A guide for carers raising tweens and teens
New South Wales (NSW) Family and Community Services provides a range of community supports to vulnerable families, including out-of-home care when needed to ensure children are leading lives free from abuse and neglect. Partners in Care offers a guide of strategies and resources for foster and kinship carers of tweens and teens to use when challenging times arise. Organized into sections for pre-teens, early teens and late teenagers, the guide addresses a wide range of topics including self-esteem and identity, supporting academic progress, emotional well-being and mental health, healthy relationships, risky behaviour, as well as developmental milestones like starting high school, beginning to drive and career development. The guide is meant to empower and encourage caregivers by offering a toolkit of helpful information and professional contacts.
