My name is Meagan, and my spirit name is Blue Thunderbird Singing Woman. I am a proud member of Fisher River Cree Nation, a wife, and a mother to four wonderful sons who are my pride and joy. Before returning to school, I held various roles including Action Therapist, CFS Family Support Worker, Jordan’s Principle Case Worker, Mental Health Outreach Worker, and Indigenous Birth Helper. In each of these roles, I had the honour of supporting Indigenous children, youth, and their families.
I am currently a second-year student in the Bachelor of Social Work program at the University of Manitoba. After completing my BSW, I plan to pursue a Master of Social Work based in Indigenous Knowledge. My long-term goal is to become a Mental Health Therapist and travel to First Nations communities to provide support to our relatives who need it most.
I am extremely grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Jordan’s Principle Scholarship. This support offers financial relief as I continue my journey toward becoming a Social Worker. Thank you for believing in my education and career goals.
