My name is Dawson Trimper, and my Indigenous community is the Bear River First Nation in Nova Scotia. I grew up off the reserve for my entire life and currently reside in Cape Breton where I have lived for most of my life. I graduated from the Nova Scotia Community College in June 2020 with my Business Diploma (Accounting Concentration) with Honours. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting & COOP program at Cape Breton University. I intend to pay it forward by creating an online scholarship database and hosting online or in-person scholarship seminars in partnership with the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Economic Benefits Office to help break down the financial barriers that Indigenous youth face when pursuing post-secondary studies by educating and supporting the youth with accessing the financial support they need to thrive academically.
