Zoe Quill is a Swampy Cree woman from Sapotaweyak Cree Nation with ties to Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Genetics at the University of Manitoba in 2023, and has worked as a laboratory technician at the National Microbiology Laboratory.

Zoe has remained deeply engaged in her community through a wide range of health initiatives. She has contributed to research aimed at improving the detection and outbreak response of infectious diseases in underserved communities. She led a national policy collaboration with Indigenous youth, developing recommendations for Canada based on global health frameworks. Zoe has also supported community health programming, working alongside First Nations and Inuit leadership to strengthen community-driven health systems.

Zoe’s work is grounded in a strong commitment to reconciliation and advancing health equity. She will continue this path as a first-year medical student at the Max Rady College of Medicine. Her pay-it-forward initiative is to leverage her strength in mentorship. Zoe believes it is important for younger generations to feel encouraged to pursue academic and personal achievement, just as she was once inspired and shaped by the leaders who came before her.
