Hello, My name is Gregory Meconse, I am the recipient of the 2022 Shannen’s Dream Scholarship. I’d like to first thank the First Nation’s Child & Family Caring society, the Collure Family, and Shannen Koostachin. Because of her courage and strength to stand up, others can succeed, and remember her name. My message to other students and young people is to continue doing what is necessary, despite your fear and hardships. Continue to show up and show that strength that Shannen showed in the face of obstacles. Everyone of us has different struggles, but by using these struggles, along with our voice, we can also create positive change for the future. My hope is to continue my education to become a teacher and help First Nation’s people through health, wellness and sport. Once again, thank you, Meegwetch for the recognition with this award, I will continue to do my best to use my voice and pay it forward for the benefit of our people.
