Vernon Jebb is a Deaf First Nations man from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba. Vernon graduated from the Red River College with a certificate as an Educational Assistant with honours in 2015. Currently, he is attending his first year at the University of Winnipeg to work towards getting his Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies with a minor in Anthropology.

Vernon currently lives in Lundar with his wife and their 3 children. He is a Traditional Pow Wow dancer and Sundancer. He always strives to learn more about his culture and traditional ways by participating in many different ceremonies.

Vernon has worked with many young Deaf and Hard of Hearing First Nations students as an ASL instructor/support worker with the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre(MFNERC). He has been working with MFNERC since 2017. Vernon strives to be a bridge between young Indigenous children and youth who are Deaf and wanting to learn about their traditional ways. He often thinks about Indigenous children who don’t have access to either culture or language within their communities and is a strong advocate for them.

In the future, Vernon hopes to continue his education and get his Bachelor of Education.
