Touchstones Social Work Curriculum

In the spring of 2009, the FNCFCS completed a course outline based on the Touchstones of Hope guiding principles. Written by Cindy Blackstock, Executive Director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada, this course is intended for upper year Bachelor students or first year Master students in Social Work programs.

Biography: Cindy Blackstock, PhD

A member of the Gitksan Nation, Cindy has worked in the field of child and family services for over twenty years on the front line, policy, professional development and research. Cindy has published numerous research papers, articles and curriculum related to Aboriginal child welfare in Canada. Current professional interests include serving as the Co-convenor Working Group on Indigenous Child Rights, co-director of the Centre of Excellence for Child Welfare and a board member for the National Aboriginal Youth Organization.
